To evaluate the accuracy of SALTMED model, data of a two-year experiment on wheat were used. Treatments included three irrigation water salinity levels of 3, 5 and 8 dS.m-1, four irrigation methods of flooded and drip irrigation (tape), with 20, 40 and 60 cm lateral spacing. The data of the first year of the experiment were used for calibration and the data of the second year were used for validation of the model. Results showed that, regardless of the irrigation method, the simulated values for wheat biological and grain yields with mean biomass error (MBE) of 29.07 and 14.21 g.m-2, respectively, were in good agreement with the measured values. According to the MBE values, the amounts of grain and biological yield were overestimated compared to the measured values. Based on the standard error of the estimates and the F-test results, although there was a significant difference between the simulated and measured performance values in the 3 dS.m-1 irrigation water salinity (P≤0.05), but with increase in irrigation water salinity, no significant difference was observed between the measured and simulated values. The average difference between simulated and measured values for grain yield was around 32 g.m-2. In the case of using r, R2, RMSE and NRMSE statistical indicators, this model can satisfactorily predict the soil salinity of 0-30 and 30-60 cm depths; where the model prediction deviations were about 0.64 and 0.88 dS.m-1, respectively. The accuracy of the model simulation was weak for soil moisture in different depths. Although, the SALTMED model had a slight overestimation of water productivity parameter (with MBE of 0.03 kg.m3), but its simulation was acceptable for all salinity and irrigation levels. Based on the results, the SALTMED model can be used to predict wheat yield, water productivity, and managing of soil salinity, especially in the upper soil layers.
