The Process of Refereeing Articles

The Journal of Water Research in Agriculture uses a double-blind review process to review articles. So that the reviewer does not know the identity of the author and vice versa.

Review Process

• - Submission of the article and initial review (one week)

Upon submission of the article by the author, the initial evaluation will be done by the executive director so that the article will be considered in terms of conformity with the format of the journal and the accuracy of the documents submitted by the authors. Then, the original article is sent to the editor-in-chief and criteria such as the relevance of the article to the topics and goals of the journal, the appropriate quality in terms of content are considered. If the article is approved in the initial review, it will be sent to the editorial board members for the selection of the reviewer. If the reviewer is selected, the author will be notified to pay the judging fee. After paying the fee, the article will be sent to three selected reviewers.

The initial review of the articles is done in the following process:

• Registration of authors and initial submission of the article by the corresponding author on the journal's website and completion of the authors' specifications and information (by the starred author)

• Double-blind judging for up to one month

Articles that are not rejected in the initial review stage, after paying the review fee with confidentiality and without the names of the authors, will be sent to professional reviewers through the following steps:

• Submit the article to three reviewers with expertise in the field of the article,These reviewers are not necessarily the reviewers recommended by the author.
• Refereeing the article and sending comments along with completing the reviewers' evaluation form and editor-in-chief's comments in order to promote and edit the article to the author for up to one month 

 

• Initial Decision Making

According to the reviewers' suggestion in evaluating the article, the initial decision will be made based on one of the following:

• In case of rejection of the article by two of the three appointed reviewers, the article will be removed from the journal's acceptance process and the author will be notified.
• If the reviewers request a full or partial revision of the article, the article will be returned to the authors for review.
• If the reviewers did not evaluate the article within the stipulated time or their review was not in line with the promotion of the article, a new reviewer/s will be appointed and the review process will continue.
• Comments will be evaluated by the Editor-in-Chief and a preliminary decision will be made. (One Week)
• If the article is not rejected, the reviewers' comments will be sent to the authors.
• Providing a revised version of the article and responding to the reviewers' comments by the authors
• If the article needs to be reviewed again by a comparative reviewer, the articles will be sent to the reviewer for evaluation of the new version of the article (20 days).
• In case of rejection of the article, the author will be notified, and if accepted, it will go to the stages of preparation for the project in the editorial office.
• If the acceptance is finalized in the editorial meeting, the acceptance letter will be sent to the author
• After the acceptance of the article, it will be placed in the articles section ready for publication

 

• After the acceptance of the article

After acceptance and payment of the printing fee, the abstract of the article is sent to the editor for editing the Persian and English abstracts, and the article is sent to the Votes page for Chinese characterization. After completing the edited abstract, it will be sent to the authors, during which confirmation of the organizational affiliation and the authors' specifications (without any change in the number), approval of the amendments to the abstract of the article will be requested.Once the authors have completed this step, the paper is processed for publication and the "cover and number" is assigned to the article. The article is then finalized online.

The waiting time for the publication of the article depends on the number of accepted articles.  However, the articles will be available in the "Ready-to-Print Articles" section of the journal's website as soon as they are finally accepted. At this point, each article is assigned a DOI number. After completing the articles of each volume, all articles in PDF formats can be downloaded for free on the journal's website.
